Speaking Test for GCSE – Home Languages

French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian & Turkish

I am writing to let you know that Home Languages students will take their Speaking Test on Wednesday 1 May with the exception of Turkish, which will take place on Monday 29 April.

They will be given a precise time and location the week before their test.

As the Speaking Test is worth 25% of the total GCSE marks, it is important to prepare carefully.  The test has three parts:

  • Role Play
  • Photo Description
  • Conversation on two topics

As the ‘Conversation’ carries most marks, students should spend time over the Easter holidays to ensure they know what they would say to answer these questions (they have been given a list of questions and I will put them on Satchel One too).

Students will have one formal practice for their Speaking Test before their real exam.  For Portuguese, this will take place on Monday 15 April in p5 and for Turkish, it will take place on Monday 29 April in p1 (students should meet me at Reception).

For French, German, Polish and Russian, I will inform students of their practice time after the Easter holidays. Students have been given a timetable for the other exam components (Listening, Reading and Writing), which will take place after their Speaking tests.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please email me at school.

Regards

Ms G Cesarano
