Early Help
An early help offer typically refers to a range of support services designed to assist students and their families when challenges arise, providing support as soon as a problem emerges at any point in a child’s life, ensuring issues are addressed early to prevent them from escalating. The goal is to promote student well-being, academic success, and family stability.
Westbourne staff know how to identify young people who may benefit from early help. Early help comes in many forms.
Pastoral support – dedicated staff to listen to and support students with emotional or social challenges.
Academic intervention – tutoring, study skills, support.
Mental health services – access to school counsellors, referrals to external mental health providers.
Health services – on-site support from school nurses or links to local healthcare providers.
Social support – identifying and addressing issues like peer pressure or social isolation.
An Early Help assessment (EHA) formally known as a CAF – The aim of an EHA is for everyone including children and parents/carers to agree the first steps and types of support that will help families work their way out of problems and resolve difficulties. An EHA is used by practitioners in a wide range of settings and circumstances. It helps to identify early intervention services which will focus on improving life outcomes for the child or young person.
Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership – Every person has a right to be safe and the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership works with lots of different organisations to make sure that they are all working together and doing what they can to keep children and young people at risk safe from any type of harm or neglect. https://www.suffolksp.org.uk/early-help#gsc.tab=0
