Please telephone the Attendance office on 01473 742315 or 01473-466145 direct before 09.00am each day, if your child is going to be absent from school or is going to arrive late to school.

Please state the following:

  • your child’s full name
  • tutor group
  • the reason for absence or lateness

Please remember to call each and every day of your child’s absence to keep us informed and allow us to confidently alert you if your child is not in school when they should be.

Please remember to notify the Attendance office in advance of any known, regular absences, ie medical/orthodontic appointments, which cannot be arranged outside of the school day (8.30am – 3.00pm).

You may also email us at wes-attendance@attrust.org.uk

We use an automatic communication system which will contact you directly if your child is marked absent from school.  It is therefore essential to let us know if your home, mobile or work telephone number changes.  It is also important that we hold current email addresses for priority 1 and 2 contacts as this goes a long way towards improving home/school communication.

Leave of Absence Requests

Requests for a leave of absence during term time can only be authorised by the Principal in exceptional circumstances.

The parent/carer with whom your child usually resides must complete the following form – students may collect printed copies from the Attendance Office:

WA Leave Of Absence Request Form MAR24

This form should please be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the intended date of absence. Any applications received within 4 weeks / 20 school days of the requested absence will not be authorised.

Applications for a leave of absence will only be authorised where the pupil’s attendance is good (over 95%) and where there are exceptional circumstances why the absence has occurred. Pupils attend school for a maximum of 190 days each academic year. Full attendance is vital for your child’s educational progress and we expect all parents to ensure that their children attend school whenever possible. Students will be expected to catch up with work missed on their return.
