Fee Paying Instrumental Music Lessons KS3: Summer Term 2024

If your child is interested in having instrumental music lessons in school through the Suffolk County Council music service, please email me at school by Thursday 28 March: zoe.bishop@attrust.org.uk.

If your child has been having music lessons in the autumn term and wishes to continue, please contact me or ask them to see me in school.

For the summer term 2024, the fee payable will be £36 per term. The cost of instrumental music lessons delivered through the academy is subsidised, which makes them good value for money. Instrument hire remains free for two years through Suffolk County Council (this service is separate to Westbourne Academy).  If your child is eligible for Free School Meals or falls within the definition for Pupil Premium, lessons costs are funded by the academy. Please email me if you believe this to be the case.

In order for your child to begin having instrumental music lessons this half term, you will need to make payment online through your child’s School Money account. By the end of first week after Easter, it will appear in the ‘School Fees’ section. Payment for the summer terms will appear separately in your School Money account.  Please arrange for this term’s payment to be made by Friday 26 April.

If you do not have, or have not activated, your child’s online School Money account, please email wes-data@attrust.org.uk.

We would like to draw your attention to the following:

  1. It is the student’s responsibility to check their lesson times each week, on the timetable notice board outside of the practice rooms.
  2. Lesson times are subject to change and so students should check the board on the morning of their lesson in case their lesson is affected.
  3. With the exception of illness and school trips, instrumental tutors will inform me if students miss three lessons in one term.  In this instance, any remaining lessons may be cancelled as the academy is financially liable for the lesson fees if a student fails to show up for a lesson. This is not economically acceptable as I am sure you will agree.
  4. Students should see me for an EXEAT card. This card needs to be shown to their subject lesson teacher five minutes before their music lesson begins. The teacher will then release them from the lesson.
  5. Instrumental music lessons are a privilege which the academy is not obliged to provide.  If a student’s attitude, behaviour or conduct falls below the standard expected, this could affect them being allowed to attend instrumental lessons in future.

Should you have any questions about your child’s instrumental music lessons, please contact me at school.

Regards

Miss Z Bishop
