Intent:
Students should:
- understand and appreciate the positive impact that creativity has on our lives.
- actively engage in the creative processes of Art and Design in order to develop as effective and independent learners.
- critique their own work and that of others enabling them to be reflective and ask questions to further their learning and understanding.
- know about a range of great and contemporary artists, major artistic movements and architectural styles.
- recognise traditional practices in different cultures around the word.
- aim to become proficient in drawing, painting, relief sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques.
- experiment with a variety of materials, tools and processes enabling them to become confident practitioners.
- record their observations, ideas and thoughts etc. in a sketchbook in a range of creative ways.
- develop and refine ideas and proposals, personal outcomes or solutions with increasing independence.
- produce creative work through structured projects culminating in final outcomes that showcase their learning.
- demonstrate safe working practices in Art and Design.
