Year 9/10 Extended Maths Level 2 Course

We are excited to offer your child the opportunity to take part in the Extended Mathematics Level 2 Course. This is a challenging and enriching programme designed to stretch high-attaining students and deepen their mathematical understanding beyond the standard curriculum.

This course is ideal for students who demonstrate a strong ability and enthusiasm in mathematics. It provides a chance to explore more advanced concepts, develop critical problem-solving skills, and prepare for future academic and career pathways where mathematics plays a key role, such as in science, technology, engineering, finance and data analysis.

Why should your child consider this course?

  • develops deeper reasoning and analytical thinking
  • prepares students for higher-level qualifications, including A-Level Maths
  • supports university applications and future career prospects
  • encourages mathematical confidence and enjoyment

Participation in the Extended Mathematics Course reflects a commitment to academic excellence and personal growth. Students will work in a supportive environment with others who share a passion for the subject, guided by experienced teachers who will provide the right level of challenge.

The course will begin in September 2025 and will require students to attend one hour after school each week, alongside independent practice in their own time throughout the week. An assessment will take place at the end of the course.

Students currently in Year 9 will follow the programme for two years, with the final two exam papers in 2027.

Students currently in Year 10 will complete the course in one year, with two exam papers in 2026.

If you believe your child would benefit from this opportunity, or if they are curious to explore mathematics at a higher level, we strongly encourage you to discuss this course with them. We have spoken with your child this morning with all the information they need to consider taking on this course. If you have any questions, please email Mr Noble: oakley.noble@attrust.org.uk.

We look forward to supporting your child on their mathematical journey.
