Year 10 Taster Day at Northgate 6th Form
Tuesday 24 June 2025 (9:00-13:00)
Your child has chosen to have a taster day at Northgate Sixth Form on the above date.
The aim of the day is to give a holistic insight into what it would be like to attend post-16 education and take part in a variety of lessons throughout the day. They will get to experience life as a student, which will help them with their post-16 choices.
Students will not need to wear their academy uniform but they should be appropriately dressed for attending a visit of this nature (no ripped jeans/shorts, revealing clothing or flipflops). Lunch is not provided and students should bring a packed lunch with them. Students who are entitled to Free School Meals can be provided with a lunch if this is booked prior to the day on the Evolve consent form.
Students should also bring a bottle of water/snack, a backpack for their personal belongings and a pencil case. May I also remind you that any valuables taken remain the responsibility of the student.
Students will need to make their own way to and from Northgate 6th Form. This helps encourage independence and personal development. They will need to report to me at 09:00 for registration purposes (this will be at the main entrance to the 6th Form). Students will then be dismissed at approximately 13:00 to make their own way home. The emergency contact on the day will be me (mobile 07781-921009).
When making visits of this nature, our students are acting as ambassadors for the academy and their future selves. On the basis they are hoping to apply for a post-16 course, we expect them to act in a mature and sensible way. Throughout the day, students will be supervised by staff from the academy and the college. In the event a student’s attitude or conduct falls below our usual expectations, we reserve the right to send the student home immediately.
In order for your child to attend the taster day, we are collecting parental consent as well as emergency contact details and medical information through Evolve (you will shortly receive an email with a link to the form).
Please ensure consent is made no later than Friday 20 June. If you require a paper copy of the form, please ask your child to see me at school.
