Year 10 Geography Exam Field Trip
Classes 10A & 10C
Monday 23 June 2025 – Olympic Park Stratford – London
As you aware, your child opted to study GCSE Geography in Key Stage 4 and part of their exam involves an examination of fieldwork skills. In order to complete the required amount of fieldwork in time for their examinations in Year 11, your child is invited to attend a field trip to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London on Monday 23 June 2025.
The purpose of the visit is to investigate the development of the Stratford area and the Olympic Park. Students will also practice fieldwork skills. Time permitting, students may also have the opportunity to visit the Westfield shopping complex. This visit will count as the first fieldwork experience that is required for the Eduqas GCSE course, attendance is therefore compulsory. The second fieldwork visit will be arranged for September when students are in Year 11, this usually takes place at Felixstowe.
Students will not need to wear academy uniform but they will need suitable clothing and footwear for a day’s fieldwork; preferably something that is waterproof along with a packed lunch and suitable refreshment for the duration. If the weather is warm, then appropriate sun protection is essential (no sleeveless or vest style tops/flipflops).
A £21 voluntary contribution is required for participation on this trip; this covers the cost of transportation by coach. Payment must please be made online through your child’s MCAS account no later than Friday 6 June. Please look out for this trip appearing on MCAS later this week. You will also receive a separate email from our trip management system – Evolve – where you will need to give consent and input medical and emergency contact details.
We will be travelling by coach, departing the academy promptly at 07:30am. We anticipate arriving back at the academy at approximately 17:00 subject to traffic. You will need to collect your child at this time unless they are able to make their own way home. On the day, students will need to arrive at school for 07:00 and report to me in the food hall for registration purposes and confirmation of trip expectations and safety advice.
We will be carrying a first aid kit and at least one member of staff accompanying the visit is a qualified first aider. Any student who would normally receive a free school meal will be provided with a packed lunch (sandwich, drink, cookie biscuit) on the day provided this is pre-ordered on the Evolve consent form. This visit is fully covered by the academy’s insurance policy with the Department for Education.
If you have any questions with regards to the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
Regards
