Wolsey Theatre Trip

Wednesday 4 June 2025

I am pleased to offer your child the opportunity to attend a Work Experience day at Wolsey Theatre on Wednesday 4 June (09:30 – 13:00). My colleague Mr Perry, Music Team Leader, will be accompanying students on the day. This encounter offers students a behind-the-scenes look at theatre careers beyond performing, designed especially for those interested in the plethora of roles within the industry.

The sessions will include:

  • a guided tour of the Wolsey Theatre
  • opportunities to meet and speak with staff across departments – technicians, Stage Management, Marketing, Wardrobe, Creative Communities, Finance and Café/bar staff.
  • a hands-on stage make-up workshop led by a professional theatre make-up artist

The students will be travelling by coach courtesy of Wolsey 550 and they will depart from the academy at 9:00.  The group will depart by coach from the Wolsey Theatre at 13:00 , arriving back at the academy in time for lunch break.  Students will need to report to Mr Perry in the food hall at 8:55 after they have registered in tutor time.

Visits play an important part in the learning of our students and we understand the financial demands placed on parents resulting from our school activities. There is no cost to parents or carers as associated transport costs have been funded in full by The Wolsey 550 organisation.

Students will need to wear their academy uniform although jumpers are optional this term. They will need to bring an appropriate snack and water to drink. Students should bring a back-pack in which to store their belongings as they cannot leave anything on the coach.

We will be carrying a first aid kit and at least one member of staff accompanying the visit is a qualified first aider.  This visit is fully covered by the academy’s insurance policy (ZURICH Insurance).

You will shortly receive a separate email from Evolve, our trip management system, where you will need to give consent for your child to take part in this trip and advise us of any prescribed medication your child needs to take.

If you have any questions with regards to the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Regards

Mr D Payne
