Introduction to Head of Year 7 & Assistant Head of Year

First of all, I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Head of Year 7 and Mr Elseidy as the Assistant Head of Year 7.  Students will know me as the Team Leader for Music and Mr Elseidy has previously been the pastoral lead for Churchill. We will be working with your child as they move into Year 8 in September.

My priority is to ensure that your child is given every opportunity to achieve their full potential in life; helping them become a rounded individual and ensuring that they are a valued member of our community.

I strongly believe that young people should enjoy their time at school and use the gift of education to its fullest. To achieve this, I will be prioritising the importance of a positive attitude, enterprise and high aspirations from all students; as well as building a culture of respect, kindness and accountability. I believe this to be crucial for their success, both during their formative years at Westbourne and beyond.

Our goal is to focus on promoting and supporting excellent behaviour, attendance and punctuality and I will be regularly visiting lessons to ensure that children are focussed, resilient and working at their optimum level. Mr Elseidy and I will work closely with students and families to provide a caring environment where high standards and success are achieved and celebrated and any barriers to learning are swiftly overcome and removed.

Every individual has a gift and it is our job to discover and nurture it. By working together, we can equip our young people with all of the attributes they will need to aim high, believe in themselves and achieve their dreams.

As year 7 draws to a close, students should focus on no longer being the fledglings of Westbourne and how they intend to set a positive example to the new intake in September.

Below is a list of the respective Year 7 tutor groups as well as their Principal Tutors and tutor bases. Staff who will be acting as Associate Tutors for Year 7 are currently being assigned to tutor groups for the next half term and this information will follow as and when it is confirmed.

Mr Elseidy and I look forward to working with you in partnership to ensure that your child has a successful and fulfilling time at Westbourne Academy.  Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards
Mr T Perry
