Introduction by New Vice Principal
I am writing to introduce myself as the new Vice Principal at Westbourne Academy. Although I have been working with the school during the last half term, I will officially take up my post when we return on Monday 2 June.
To address the current challenges at Westbourne, we will be implementing a number of initial strategies to support positive behaviour and enable the effective delivery of lessons across the academy. We will tackle barriers to learning and ensure that all members of our school community understand the expectations and standards they are required to meet.
On Monday 2 June, several changes will come into effect. Students will return to new Tutor Groups with a designated Head of Year and Assistant Head of Year. Parents and carers have today been sent separate introductions from their child’s Head of Year and Assistant Head of Year. This new pastoral structure aims to improve communication lines, build relationships and provide you with a clear point of contact within the academy.
Effective communication is key to delivering a consistent message to all students. We will begin Monday with assemblies for each year group. These assemblies will inform students about the new ‘C system’, the use of detentions where necessary, and provide clear guidance regarding the Seclusion Room. The schedule is as follows:
08:15 School opens as normal for all year groups
08:30 Years 8, 9 and 10 report to new tutor bases for registration and tutor time
08:30 Year 7 line up in B playground before assembly in the Main Hall
08:55 Extended tutor time for Years 7 to 10 in tutor bases
08:55 Year 8 line up in B playground before assembly in the Main Hall
(8y students will not have a PE lesson P1 ie no need to bring their PE kit)
09:25 Year 9 line up in B playground before assembly in the Main Hall
09:55 Period 2 as timetabled for Years 7, 8 and 9
09:55 Year 10 line up in B playground in class order before assembly in Main Hall
10:55 Break time and rest of the day as normal for Years 7 to 10
11:20 Year 11 students in school for maths revision session Periods 3 & 4 (A29/A23)
14:00 Year 11 History students in school for revision session Period 5 in Main Hall
14:30 Catch-up assembly for any students who missed their earlier year group assembly
I look forward to meeting you over the next half term. I will be inviting parents and carers to attend events where we can share more about the strategies we are implementing at Westbourne.
May I kindly ask that during the half term you ensure your child’s uniform is correct for the start of Summer Term 2 on Monday 2 June. Stimate Părinte/Îngrijitor,
Vă scriu pentru a mă prezenta în calitate de nou Vice Director al Westbourne Academy. Deși am colaborat cu școala în timpul ultimului semestru, îmi voi prelua oficial funcția la revenirea noastră, luni, 2 iunie.
Pentru a răspunde provocărilor actuale de la Westbourne, vom implementa o serie de strategii inițiale menite să sprijine comportamentul pozitiv și să faciliteze desfășurarea eficientă a lecțiilor în cadrul Academiei. Vom aborda barierele în calea învățării și ne vom asigura că toți membrii comunității noastre școlare înțeleg așteptările și standardele pe care trebuie să le respecte.
Luni, 2 iunie, vor intra în vigoare mai multe schimbări. Elevii se vor întoarce în noi Grupe de Tutori, fiecare având un Lider de An și un Asistent al Liderului de An. Această nouă structură de sprijin pastoral are scopul de a îmbunătăți comunicarea, de a consolida relațiile și de a vă oferi un punct clar de contact în cadrul Academiei.
Comunicarea eficientă este esențială pentru transmiterea unui mesaj consecvent tuturor elevilor. Vom începe ziua de luni cu adunări pentru fiecare grupă de vârstă. Acestea vor informa elevii despre noul „sistem C”, utilizarea detențiilor atunci când este necesar, precum și despre regulile privind camera de izolare. Programul este următorul:

Aștept cu nerăbdare să vă cunosc în următorul semestru. Voi invita părinții să participe la evenimente prin care vom putea comunica mai multe despre strategiile pe care le implementăm la Westbourne.
Vă rog ca, în perioada vacanței, să vă asigurați că uniforma copilului dumneavoastră este conformă pentru revenirea din data de 2 iunie și să discutați cu fiul/fiica dumneavoastră despre schimbările din Academie, menționate în scrisoarea domnului Trott din 16 mai.
