Attendance Mentoring Programme – Request for Consent
We are writing to you about the new Attendance Mentoring Programme that Westbourne Academy are part of.
Etio are delivering this programme on behalf of the Department for Education and are working with Westbourne to support and help as many students as possible to regularly attend school.
Having spoken to Westbourne’s attendance team, we have agreed that your child may benefit from the support of one of our mentors. We are writing to seek your consent for us to work closely with your child on their attendance through a 1-1 mentoring programme, in school, over a period of approximately 12 weeks.
Last week, you will have received information about the evaluation of the programme and been provided the option to opt-out of this. Should you opt-out, your child will not be eligible to receive mentoring. If you have not yet reviewed the information regarding the evaluation, please do so prior to completing our consent form. We recognise that there are many factors that impact attendance and that no two students are the same. Therefore, we will work in partnership with you, the school, and, if necessary, other support services to provide bespoke support that we hope will help to address any challenges identified.
The mentoring programme will start in week commencing Monday 24 March and we anticipate it concluding 12 weeks later in week commencing wc 30 June 2025. We can be flexible where students require slightly less or slightly more support so in some instances these dates will change.
Whilst our programme focuses on supporting pupils, we will also work with parents and guardians and offer support where appropriate.
