Year 8 Student Wins Gold Maths Award

A talented Year 8 student from Westbourne Academy has achieved outstanding success in the UK Mathematics Trust Junior Mathematical Challenge for the second year in a row.

Gabriel Cantarelli was awarded a Gold Certificate after achieving an exceptional score in the national competition, placing him among the highest-performing students in the country.

Following his impressive result, Gabriel has also been invited to take part in the Junior Kangaroo Challenge, an advanced follow-on competition designed for top-performing pupils.

Miss Hussain, Gabriel’s teacher at Westbourne Academy, praised his dedication and enthusiasm for mathematics.

“We are extremely proud of Gabriel’s achievement. His hard work, determination, and passion for problem-solving have truly paid off. Being invited to the Kangaroo Challenge is a fantastic accomplishment and a wonderful recognition of his mathematical talent.”

The Junior Mathematical Challenge, organised by the UK Mathematics Trust, encourages logical thinking and problem-solving skills among young students across the UK.

Gabriel’s success has been celebrated by staff and fellow students at Westbourne Academy, who wish him the very best in the next stage of the competition.
