Year 11 Countdown: The Last 100 Days
We begin the final 100 days of your child’s secondary education this week and I wanted to outline to you, some of the steps that we are taking to ensure that every young person leaves Westbourne with the grades they need to reach their next chapter on their journey.
Period 6
The schedule for this is shown below and all students are encouraged to attend. However, teachers have requested specific students, and they have had their timetables (which you can view on MCAS) amended to show this. Attendance is compulsory for each session that they are timetabled for.
Period 6 Generic Timetable For Year 11 JAN2026
Students who participated fully in this intervention last year saw an average of nearly a whole grade in some subjects, so it is well worth the time investment.
Online Tutoring Maths English and Science
In the past, we have arranged online tutoring for students which has seen their grades improve by on average 0.5 grades. We are looking to explore this to start after half term for Year 11 students. The sessions cost the academy a significant amount of money, so we only want to see students sign-up for a session if they are committed to attending. The sessions will run from 4.15-5.15 in the LRC (after period 6). Depending upon the subject, students would be expected to attend 1-2 sessions per week. If they are interested and committed to improving their grade, then please sign up by clicking on this hyperlink by Wednesday 4 February:

Half Term and Easter Revision
We intend to run revision sessions for some subjects during the February half term, and Easter holidays. Please look out for further communication regarding this in the coming weeks.
PREs
There will be a second round of Progress Review Exams (PREs) for Maths, English, Science and some of the other subjects starting after half term. Students will receive their timetables from Mrs Fulcher next week.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
Mr R Hawkes
Assistant Principal
