Press Release: GCSE Results Day 2025
We are all very proud of the hard work and dedication of our staff and Year 11’s which paid off in some excellent results despite a very challenging year in school. Staff and students have worked tirelessly to support each other, plug gaps in knowledge, and repair the foundations that were missing as a legacy of the pandemic.
We are delighted that our students with strong attendance did exceptionally well, achieving an average Attainment 8 score of 5.2, and underlining why attendance is such an important area that schools, students and their families are working to maximise in the post-pandemic era.
Triple Science, Religious Studies and the vocational subjects including hospitality and catering, health and social care, and PE led the way with strong student outcomes in each area.
Students of note included Komail A, Wyatt D, Jamie L, Nicole F and Sameeha T, who all achieved a range of grades 7, 8 and 9. Furthermore the hard work and diligence of the overwhelming majority of the year group is to be commended.
Comment from the Principal, Mr Martin Higgon:
On behalf of everyone at Westbourne Academy I would like to congratulate our students for achieving such fantastic GCSE results, in what has been a far from easy time in education for them, experiencing the significant impact of the pandemic during Years 6 and 7. Their achievements are a testament to the effort they have put in over the past five years, and I would like to thank all of the staff at Westbourne Academy for their hard work in supporting them on this journey, as well as their parents and carers. We wish them well as they start on the next stage of their lives, and hope that they keep in touch to let us know about their future successes.
Quote/Comment from Directory of Secondary Education, Mr Garry Trott:
