Important Reminder

School Expectations and Concerns Regarding Vaping

We are writing to highlight some growing concerns regarding the use of vapes among young people and to clarify the school’s expectations around this issue. Over recent weeks, staff have become increasingly aware of students either bringing vapes onto school premises or being in possession of them during the school day.

As you will know, vapes – whether containing nicotine or not – are strictly prohibited for all students. National guidance is very clear that the sale of vapes to anyone under the age of 18 is illegal. There are significant concerns regarding the health impact of vaping on young people.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, the school has the following rules in place:

  • students must not bring vapes or vape-related items (including chargers, cartridges, or empty devices) onto school property
  • any vape or related item found in a student’s possession will be confiscated
  • students found using or possessing a vape will face appropriate sanctions in line with our Behaviour Policy

We ask for your support in reinforcing these expectations at home. Please talk to your child about the risks associated with vaping and check regularly that they are not bringing prohibited items to school.

Our priority is to keep all students safe, healthy, and focused on their learning. By working together, we can help prevent vaping from becoming a barrier to that aim.

If you have any questions or would like further guidance on how to speak to your child about vaping, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Below are hyperlinks to the NHS website and Parent Talk with further advice and guidance for parents and carers:
