Intent:

You will be introduced to the dynamic world of business. It covers a broad range of topics that are designed to provide you with the knowledge and understanding that underpin modern business. You will learn how entrepreneurs turn simple ideas into profitable businesses as well as how companies operate and make important business decisions on a local, national and international level.  Above all you will be encouraged to become enterprising and think creatively and commercially in order to solve problems and explore what it takes to be successful in business today.

Theme 1 and 2 will both have a written paper 90 mins long each worth 50% which is taken at the end of Y11. Both exam papers are made of 3 sections. Section A is multiple choice and short answers. Section B/C are based on business case studies and have longer questions.

Business Studies gives you the opportunity to progress to a wide range of careers.  Your skills and knowledge can be applied in banking, insurance, accountancy, industry, transport, tourism, education and setting up your own business. All businesses need enterprising leaders and employees to drive their organisations forward, to have ideas and imitative to promote growth and to ensure that businesses survive in this fast-changing world. Enterprise skills provide a fantastic progression pathway into a number of roles in an organisation and are transferable into all businesses.
