Attendance Mentoring Programme – Request for Consent

We are writing to you about the Attendance Mentoring Programme of which Westbourne Academy is a part. Etio are delivering this programme on behalf of the Department for Education and are working with Westbourne Academy to support and help as many students as possible to regularly attend school.

You may have heard about the programme as Etio started mentoring at Westbourne in March this year and we are now looking ahead to supporting more children in September.

Having spoken to your child’s school, we have agreed that your child may benefit from the support of one of our mentors. We are writing to seek your consent for us to support your child through a 1-1 mentoring programme over a period of approximately 12 weeks.

We recognise that there are many factors that impact attendance and that no two students are the same. We will work in partnership with you, the school, and, if beneficial, other support services to provide tailored support that we hope will help to address any challenges identified.

The mentoring programme will start in the week commencing Monday 8 September 2025. We anticipate it concluding 12 weeks later in the week commencing Monday 17 November. We can be flexible where students require slightly less or slightly more support, therefore these dates may change.

Whilst our programme focuses on supporting students, we also work with parents and carers and offer support where appropriate.

Please provide your consent to Etio using this link; mentoring consent form  by Monday 21 July 2025.

We are looking forward to working with you and your child and would welcome any questions you may have at: attendance.mentoring@etioglobal.org.

Kind regards

Richard Eastwood

Area Manager for Etio Ipswich

Who are Etio?

Etio (formerly Tribal Education Services) has been a proud delivery partner to the UK Department for Education (DfE) since 2006, and our work has been critical to projects including the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), the National Tutoring Programme (NTP), the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP), Multiply RCTs Adult Numeracy Programme, and National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).

The Attendance Mentoring team are highly trained individuals who bring a wide range of skills and experience in supporting young people with backgrounds in education, mentoring, youth work and support services. Each of the ten areas we are delivering in has a dedicated team of mentors, supported by an Area Manager who works closely with participating schools to embed themselves in the school and wider community. All our mentors and Area Managers have had the appropriate checks and safeguarding training to deliver this work.

  • Your mentor(s) is: Andrew Rooke or Karri Crisp

What is the mentoring programme and what does it mean for my child?

  • Your child will receive 1-1 support on a weekly basis from an Etio trained mentor working with a group of pupils at their school.
  • The support will primarily be in person and on school premises but this will be adapted to your child and their needs. It may be that the mentor will meet with your child in another risk assessed safe space off premises, like a community hub.
  • The mentor will work with your child to identify challenges they are facing in terms of their attendance and will develop an action plan with your child to help address these.
  • The content of the mentoring sessions will be unique to your child and the mentor will adapt these as needed to ensure they are providing the best support possible.
  • When concluding the mentoring, the mentor will work alongside the school to support the child in this transition.

What am I consenting to?

By providing your consent using the form below, you are consenting to:

  • Your child participating in the Attendance Mentoring Programme facilitated by Etio, which may include both on and off-premises activities during school terms and in some holidays.
  • Weekly 1-1 mentoring sessions for your child with a trained Etio attendance mentor for the duration of the programme.
  • Etio securely storing, processing, and sharing necessary personal data for the successful running of the programme in line with our privacy policy, including your contact details and your child’s information with authorised Etio employees and partners. A full list of these partners is available upon request.
  • The Area Manager and mentor for your school contacting your child regarding mentoring and the mentoring sessions, where appropriate.
  • Etio sharing necessary personal data with third-party service providers solely for supporting your child’s school attendance, where this is appropriate.

All personal data will be handled confidentially. In safeguarding situations, necessary information will be shared with relevant authorities in accordance with your child’s school’s safeguarding and child protection policy.

How do I withdraw my consent?

You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting your Area Manager or alternatively by contacting the school wes-office@attrust.org.uk. Withdrawal of consent means the programme will no longer continue for your child, and any processing of data prior to withdrawal will remain lawful. Please see our Privacy Policy above for more details.
