Year 6 Transition Days at Westbourne Academy

Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June 2026

We are very much looking forward to welcoming Year 6 pupils for their two transition days on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June.

Year 6 pupils should please enter through the main Reception doors at the front of school at 8:15 – 8:25. Our staff will meet them and take them to the main hall for an 8:30 assembly and show them where to sit. Year 6 classes will be accompanied by one of our Teaching Assistants all day on both days. Year 6 pupils will be dismissed through Student Gate A on both days, the gate nearest to Whitehouse Primary School.

Your child should wear their primary PE kit and trainers to school on Wednesday and their usual primary uniform on Thursday.

It is essential that Year 6 pupils bring a bottle of water to drink on both days and a packed lunch. There are water fountains in the playgrounds where they can refill their bottles at break and lunchtime.  Year 6 pupils have a PE lesson after lunch on Wednesday afternoon. A back-pack or school bag in which to store their personal belongings is also essential.

There will be a sandwich and a drink available at lunch time for any Year 6 pupils who are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). Our catering staff will be on hand to assist children with getting their FSM lunch from the Food Hall.

If your child is bringing a mobile device to school with them on the transition days, please ensure they understand that it must remain switched off and be stored out of sight in their back-pack/bag. The academy bears no responsibility for any valuables or items that are lost or damaged.

Mr Higgon and your child’s new form tutors are looking forward to meeting parents and carers with their child on Wednesday evening.  We will contact you separately about the arrangements for meeting your child’s new tutor between 16:15 – 18:00.
