Post 16 Applications and Open Events 2026/27
Over the course of this half term, I will be asking your child to prepare to make their application(s) for post-16 education.
To aid them with this, the academy provides access to an independent Careers Advisor every Thursday at school. I also help those who require assistance with online applications (after school in the LRC on a Tuesday) and Form Tutors who are on hand to advise regarding suitable routes into further education.
However, as an additional level of support, each of our partner post-16 providers also offer Open Events where students and parents can go along and speak directly with staff in those areas which they might have an interest.
The dates (along with links to book a place where required) are listed below:

I would encourage you to visit as many of these as possible and apply to at least two different places.
It is also worth remembering at this stage, that with most applications, a reference from the school is required which usually requests data on expected academic performance, attendance and behaviour.
In a climate where places on many of the courses offered is highly competitive, I would encourage all students to make sure that they receive the absolute best possible reference they can by attending lessons every day (on time) and behaving in a manner that reflects the finest version of the person they are.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding this process, then please contact me at school.
Kind regards
Miss S Bird
Head of Year 11
