Your child has expressed an interest in acting as a guide at our Year 6 Open Evening on Thursday 1st October. We believe they would be a fantastic ambassador for the academy and we would be most grateful if you would allow them to participate.

We are expecting in the region of 200+ families on the night and, in order to share with them the very best of Westbourne Academy, we are recruiting a similar number of student guides.
The purpose of the evening is to give Year 6 pupils and their parents an opportunity to visit the academy, meet with staff and talk to students about their learning experience as well as the wider aspects living and working within the Westbourne Academy community. There will be displays, curriculum exhibitions and current students will work with subject teachers in classrooms, laboratories, workshops and gymnasia.
Student guides will be given instructions on what they need to do during a training session to be held at 12:50 on Tuesday 29 September in the Main Hall. They will be released from lesson 4 by their class teachers. They will need to bring their bags and coats with them as they will be dismissed for lunch at the normal time of 13:20 and will not go back to class.
On Thursday 1st October, all student guides must arrive at school at 15:40 via main reception and proceed to the main hall. Mrs Fulcher, Mr Thorpe and I will be there to meet them and supervise. The evening is scheduled to finish at 18:30 and guides should have completed their tours by this time if you plan to collect your child at the end of the evening please arrive for 17:45. We will keep guides in the main hall until they are dismissed or collected.
Full school uniform must be worn correctly; bags/mobiles will be stored securely. Any student guides who are not properly presented in uniform will not be able to represent the academy.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation in allowing your child to take part. Remember that all students will be dismissed at the earlier time of 13:20 on Thursday 1st October to allow our estates team, cleaners and staff to prepare the facilities and activities.
