DEC Appeal for Ukraine – Sum Raised £2992

Before the Easter break, the academy community came together to recognise the deepening humanitarian crisis for the people of Ukraine and wanted to do something to help.

Over the course of the last three weeks of term we managed to raise £2992 for the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine appeal through a House bake sale, raffle, and non- uniform day.

In addition to this, through donations of tinned foods and toiletries, we sent over 50 boxes of these items to Poland, to support those from Ukraine who have been displaced from their homes.

You view some of the photos taken of the bake sale on our website Galleries page here:

We are extremely grateful to everyone who helped to raise such a fantastic sum, whether that was through purchasing raffle tickets, buying or baking cakes, donating items, or supporting the non-uniform day on the last day of term.

We must also say a very special thank you to all the local businesses who supported our fundraising by donating such wonderful and generous prizes for the raffle.

It was truly heart-warming to see the whole academy come together in a time of adversity to think of others before themselves and support such a worthy cause. Our next fundraising event will be Rainbow Flag day to celebrate national School Diversity Week on Friday 24 June.  There will be House assemblies held about this in school the week before.
