For Parents & Carers of Year 6 Pupils
Information for Y6 Parents & Carers for September 2026
We hope your child enjoyed their transition experience days and made some new friends. It was a pleasure to see them all and give them an insight to their future school career. We wanted to take this opportunity to share the following information with you, in case you were wondering about anything after their visit here this week.
Summer School Information
Your child was given a letter to take home about the Westbourne Summer School which takes place at the end of July. You can find a copy of this letter attached.

Coming to Westbourne Guide 2026 – 2027
Your child was also given a copy of our Coming to Westbourne Guide 2026- 2027, which you can also find here on our website as a digital flip document – it is a useful reference for parents and carers as well as new students:
Coming to Westbourne Academy 2026/27 – Flipbook – Page 1
Yondr Pouches
Please be advised that your child will be provided with a Yondr pouch on their first day of school on Thursday 3 September. You do not need to buy this separately unless your child loses or damage the pouch that is given to them. If you have an older sibling who has left the school then feel free to pass that back to us for re-issue or you can give it to your younger child. All new students will be shown how to use the Yondr pouch.
You can find more information here:
Yondr Phone Pouch Fact Sheet OCT25
Biometrics Data (for the Food Hall)
Provided you have given consent on the admissions and consent forms that you have filled in, we will collect biometrics data for all new Year 7 students on the first day of term in September. They will also be given a unique 6-digit PIN but their biometric (fingerscan) is a more secure way to purchase items in the food hall.
MyChildatSchool (MCAS)
If you have older children at Westbourne, then you will be familiar with our MyChildatSchool platform/app where you can monitor school attendance, behaviour, pay for school dinners or trips or buy items from the school shop. You will be able to add younger siblings in September, after the first day of school.
If you are new to Westbourne, we will write to you separately in September about how you can self-sign-up for MCAS. Your email address and mobile will need to match exactly with what we have on record for you. If you change your email or mobile, please email wes-office@attrust.org.uk and let us know.
MCAS is one of the ways we use to communicate with parents and carers so please remember to turn on notifications on your device. You will not be able to sign-up until 3 September however, when your child officially goes on roll.
School Approved Calculators
We sell exam approved Casio calculators in school and these can be purchased at a subsidised price on MCAS (when your child starts in September). Please do not worry if they don’t have a calculator for the first week of term. Prices vary incredibly over the summer holidays in the supermarkets and online and we are usually the cheaper option.
Toilet Passes
If there are medical reasons why your child needs to be considered for a toilet pass in September, please email wes-office@attrust.org.uk for the attention of Mr Arrow. You will need to provide us with a copy (screenshot) of documented evidence from your GP or the hospital. Students are free to use the WCs before school, at morning break, at lunchtime and afterschool.
Co-Curricular Clubs & Activities
There will be a new programme of clubs and activities on offer for the autumn term and this will be shared in school with students as well as with parents/carers. These run at lunchtime and after school and they are free for our students to attend. Transport for any away sports fixtures is provided by our PE staff who have use of our school minibus.
Student Access to Computers & Online Learning Resources
At the start of term, all new Year 7 students will be given details of their personal username, password and school email. This allows them to login to PCs in school as well as access a range of online learning platforms and Satchel One. They will also be shown how to login to school systems from any devices they have at home and this will also be shared with parents and carers.
Students will be taught how to log in during a computer science lesson in the first fortnight in September. As a result, no teachers will set online home learning on Satchel One until all Year 7 have had a computing lesson and logged into the system ie from week 3.
We will also provide parents and carers with their own login credentials so they can see what home learning has been set on Satchel One. This is usually sent home with Year 7 students in the first fortnight.
Academy Uniform
PMG Schoolwear have now moved across the street from their old store. Note that they are not open on Wednesdays. Shirts, trousers, shoes and socks may be purchased from a range of retailers but logo’d items such as our blazer, PE kit and tie can only be bought from PMG. All new Year 7 students will need to wear a red tie which they will keep until they leave in Year 11.
When your child starts in September, if they should lose their tie or need a replacement, you will be able to buy replacement ties from school via the MCAS app. Students then collect these at break or lunch from the School Shop office at the back of the main hall.
Student Timetables
On the first day of term, all students in all years will be given printed copies of their new class timetables during an extended form tutor time between 8:30am – 10.55am. New Year 7 students will also have an opportunity to orientate themselves and find out where to go for their lessons, where the toilets and water fountains are located and where to line-up at the end of break and end of lunch.
Should you have any further queries between now and September, please email the school office for the attention of Ms Robbie or me on wes-office@attrust.org.uk.
Please be aware that the academy is closed over the summer holiday from Monday 20 July to Monday 31 August inclusive and all staff have training days on 1st and 2 September.
Kind regards
Mr D Payne
Head of Year 7 for September 2026
