Supporting our Aspirational Values of LORIC

We aspire to develop character, personal pride and the highest of moral standards in our students during their time with us. We impress upon them the world of work is often a competitive place and the qualities that will set them apart are those described by our aspirational LORIC values.

Organisation and Independence Focus

Organisation:

During morning meetings, we provide pens to any student who needs them. Unfortunately, we are providing equipment to the same students on a daily basis. To support any barriers to learning our teachers then provide equipment throughout the day.

Please could you support your child by ensuring they come to school with a bag with the correct equipment, including their PE kit. Please note that we provide subsidised equipment to help our students and their families. For example, for £1 we will provide a pencil case filled with equipment including a 30 cm ruler. The recommended calculator for mathematics examinations can be bought on School Money for £5.

Independence:

In a recent communication we highlighted the fact that our Learning Resource Centre is open Monday to Thursdays from 15:00-16:00 to provide help and support for students.

I am now excited to share a new resource to help students and their families to work independently at home with an intelligent resource that will help students succeed.

Century.tech is an online platform which allows students to learn and revise in manageable chunks.  The platform continuously assesses students and adjusts work accordingly to meet their needs. All students have an account and can access learning in the core subjects of maths, English and Science.

Students simply need to go to https://app.century.tech/login/ and sign in with ‘Office 365’ using their school email address and password. Next half term we will be running a fortnightly competition and the top three students from each year group on the leader board will receive prizes.

You can find the link to the above resource and all the other online resources to support your child via Quick links and Home Learning Link on the academy website here:
