Dear Parents and Carers
Summer Reading Challenge – Years 7 and 8
We have today launched the Westbourne Academy Summer Reading Challenge for all our current Year 7 and Year 8 students. The challenge is to pass 10 book quizzes or read 100,000 words during the school holidays.
Students can use their school library books (both physical books and e-books), their books from home and we have also given students access to an additional 7,000 online books, each broken down into categories allowing students to find something they’ll enjoy. Details of how to access the books are in an email we have sent to all students and on all students Show My Homework accounts.
Participation in the Summer Reading Challenge is optional, but we ask that you encourage your children to participate. Any form of reading during the summer holidays will help them to maintain and build on their current reading levels.
We hope all students have a great summer break and look forward seeing them all again in September.
