A message for parents and carers from Paul Gelernter, Managing Director of PMG Schoolwear:
PMG Schoolwear – Store Opening 12 April
At long last there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel and it looks like PMG Schoolwear stores will be able to open from Monday 12 April.
PMG’s website and online ordering has managed to handle the demand over the past few weeks and we hope that parents have been able to order and indeed have received their items. We are aware of some delays with suppliers and this is something that will continue over the coming months as the rest of the world continues to struggle with Covid. Very few countries are as far ahead as the UK in vaccinations and, as a result, there are still many issues around the world resulting in delays in the supply chain.
Last year the uniform appointment system was so successful that PMG Schoolwear stores intend to operate it again this year. Parents loved the personal service and convenience of turning up at a time of their choosing and being sure of receiving a personal and dedicated service. More information will be issued in due course and there will be a link from the PMG website to allow parents to book.
Social distancing looks set to remain throughout the summer and so PMG are strongly advising parents to book appointments as they will only be allowing so many people into the store at any one time. If parents do not make appointments they may be disappointed that they have to queue to get into the shop.
The cut-off date for buying new uniform this year will be of paramount importance. Last year, parents left it until the last few days of the summer holidays to come to stores to buy uniform or to do it online. This was not unique to PMG but experienced by all school uniform outlets. The demand was overwhelming and led to long queues outside shops, disgruntled parents and most importantly stocks running out as parents left it until the last minute and then were disappointed when suppliers ran out of stock. Most of the uniform stock is imported from Asia and so it cannot be replenished quickly. The cut-off date for buying new uniform for September will be advertised on the PMG website and shared with schools so they may inform parents.
