Extract from Principal’s Bulletin that was emailed to parents/carers on 26/10/20

Given the increased incidents of reported COVID-19 cases across Ipswich, our own recent case and the move by Essex to Tier 2, we are now asking parents/carers to ensure their child now brings in, and wears, a face covering whilst in the academy buildings (optional in the classroom) when they return after half term on Monday 2 November 2020.

At present, staff as well as students in Year 10 and 11 must wear a face covering whilst inside academy buildings (optional in the classroom). Given the increased supervised movement of students in Years 7, 8 and 9, as we maintain and increase their use of practical and specialist rooms, all students are now required to bring a face covering to the academy and wear it when they are inside the academy buildings. They can, of course, remove the face covering when they are sitting inside to eat. The wearing of face coverings is optional in classrooms and outside the academy buildings. Please ensure that the face covering worn is appropriate to be worn in the academy, with no words or images that may be scary or offensive.

If you feel your child has a health or disability reason which prevents them from wearing a face mask please contact the academy on the email address below.

If your child has been provided with an exemption certificate which allows them not to wear a face mask please email a copy of the certificate to  office@westbourne.attrust.org.uk so that staff can be made aware of your child’s exemption. Students who are exempt will be issued with an exemption lanyard to carry whilst they are in school.
