IMPORTANT INFORMATION – COVID-19 VACCINATIONS

The COVID-19 vaccination will reduce the chance of suffering from COVID-19 disease. Like all medicines, no vaccine is completely effective, and it takes a few weeks for the body to build up protection from the vaccine. Some people may still get COVID-19 despite having a vaccination, but this should lessen the severity of any infection. The vaccine cannot give COVID-19 infection, and two doses will reduce the chance of becoming seriously ill. Like all medicines, vaccines can cause side effects. Most of these are mild and short-term, and not everyone gets them.

Following the advice of the Chief Medical Officer and Public Health England (PHE), the COVID-19 mass vaccination programme has been extended to include all 12 to 15-year-olds. The School Aged Immunisation Team (SAIS) have been commissioned to deliver the programme in all secondary schools in East Anglia.

The team will visit Westbourne Academy on  Monday 1st November 2021

A response is required. You must accept or decline this vaccination by completing the online form.

Note: Only Year 7 students who are already 12 years old by 1st November can have the vaccine. Only Year Y11 who are not yet 16 years old on 1st November can have the vaccine. Over 16s are dealt with through NHS Services not the school age immunisation team. .

Please click this link COVID-19 consent and complete the form for COVID-19 at Westbourne on 1st November.

It is important to discuss and complete the consent form with your child. For further information regarding the COVID-19 vaccination, please visit
