Change of Dates: Matilda Performances & Rehearsals
Owing to a change in staffing levels and the current coronavirus measures in place at school, as well as the risk assessment that we have made as a Performing Arts department, we have decided that we are unable to continue with rehearsals for Matilda at the moment. We are changing the dates to the following, in the summer term:
Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 July: Weekend rehearsals
Monday 4 & Tuesday 5 July: Off timetable / dress rehearsal to primary schools
Wednesday 6 to Friday 8 July: Wed-Fri performance evenings
A Microsoft Form will be sent out next week for you to confirm your child’s attendance. We appreciate that it is repetitive to request the same details and thank you for your support so far, but so that we can plan for any re-casting, please can we request that you complete the form with information about the new dates.
Formal rehearsals will resume after Easter, with a revised timetable sent out before the end of term. We expect that these will be held regularly on a Monday and Tuesday until 4/4:30pm, however, we will confirm nearer the time. There may be the occasional extra rehearsal called for specific scenes. Students are encouraged to keep practicing their songs / lines casually with friends or at home in the meantime, however, rest assured that we will pick up where we left off after Easter.
This will take place at the end of Year 11 examinations and so should not adversely affect these students in any way. Year 11s will be invited to attend rehearsals after their exams completely finish, however, if they would like to let off some steam by attending at other times after school during the summer term, they are most welcome.
Any students who are part of the academy CCF should be aware that their annual week-long camp is taking place in Scotland from Saturday 2nd to Saturday 9th July which will prevent them taking part in Matilda.
There will be an optional drop-in meeting in the Main Hall on Monday 17 January after school for students to talk to staff should they have any questions.
Many thanks for your continued support at this challenging time. The students have been so resilient and enthusiastic despite all of the disruptions and we can’t wait to put on a dazzling display of all of their hard work.
If you have any questions, please email me at school.
